Foundations

A civic system begins with identifiable, accountable participants.

Principles behind a civic proof-of-human system with accountable local participants.

Human accountability first

The core lifecycle is committee approval, expiring attestation, and random peer renewal. Direct Republic, Mirror-State, and Civic SOUL are foundations and roadmap concepts, not current lifecycle steps.

Local before scale

A jurisdiction must be able to understand who is responsible for formation, evidence rules, privacy commitments, and disputes before the protocol scales outward.

Open questions remain

Group assignment, signature thresholds, privacy-preserving proofs, governance documents, and legal structures remain unfinished.

Protocol status: committee approval starts the lifecycle; every attestation expires after 45 days; random peer renewal details are still being designed.
